Your privacy in SoundStage
Effective 21 October 2026
The short version
SoundStage is made to make your sound better, nothing else. It doesn't know who you are, it never listens to or records your sound, and it shows no ads. We don't sell anything about you, ever.
The app sends nothing unless you choose to: a problem report you send, crash reports, or anonymous statistics that help make the default sound right for everyone.
Your sound stays on your iPhone
SoundStage improves the sound as it plays and passes it straight to your headphones or speaker. It is never saved and never sent anywhere.
Your settings stay on your iPhone
Your presets and settings are kept on your iPhone only.
Purchases are handled by Apple
Free trials, subscriptions and Lifetime are bought through Apple. We never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details. The app only asks Apple which plan you have, and when you first downloaded it (that starts your free week). Both stay on your iPhone.
What can be sent, and only if you choose
- A problem report, when you tap Send in Settings › Report a Problem. It holds your note, the app's settings, what the app did recently, the names of your audio devices (like "AirPods Pro"), your iPhone model and iOS version, its battery and temperature state, and the app version. You can see it all before you send it. It never holds audio.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, it asks whether to send a report. If you turn on "Send Crash Reports Automatically" (it is off unless you turn it on), they are sent without asking.
- Anonymous statistics ("Help Make the App Better", off unless you turn it on). Once a week: which presets are used on which kinds of devices (for example "headphones: Immersive"), which settings were changed, and the names given to your own presets. This is how the default presets are made to sound good for everyone, so people who never touch a setting still get great sound. It carries no name and nothing that identifies you or your iPhone, and its random tag changes every week, so weeks can't even be linked together.
Where it goes and how long it's kept
Anything you send travels encrypted to our server (run on Cloudflare). Problem and crash reports are kept in a private place that only we can read (on GitHub), until the problem is fixed and never longer than 2 years. Statistics are kept only as totals, like "this many people use Immersive on headphones". Their weekly tag is deleted after a week.
We use them only to fix problems and improve SoundStage. Never for ads, never sold, never shared.
You're in control
Turn crash reports and statistics on or off any time in SoundStage › Settings › Diagnostics.
Want a report deleted, or have a question? Send a report from the app with a note saying so (you'll get a reference like 7F3K-9QD2), or write to us here (messages there are public, so please leave out personal details).

SoundStage collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
